Preparing to Breastfeed Your Newborn (Part 1)
(formerly known as Breastfeeding 101)

All Care Connection classes are small by design in order to provide personal attention.
Breastfeeding is the healthiest way to feed your baby. This natural but learned experience is made easier if you know what to expect! An experienced nurse practitioner/certified lactation consultant will help prepare you to breastfeed your baby during the first few weeks of life. Your partners are a GREAT SUPPORT and are welcome to join the class.
We will discuss:
- Breastfeeding’s amazing health benefits for you and your baby
- How breastmilk is made
- What to expect in the hospital – “the first hour” with your newborn
- Getting off to a good start, positioning and latch-on tips
- How to identify hunger cues from your baby
- How to know that your baby is getting enough milk
- Dealing with newborn sleepiness, fussiness, and growth spurts
- When pumping, supplementing and pacifiers are needed in the early weeks
- Avoiding problems for new moms such as nipple pain or engorgement
- Resources available to help when you have a question

Breastfeeding Beyond the Newborn Period (Part 2)
(formerly known as Return to Work: Pump for Success)

In just a few short weeks, new moms begin to consider how breastfeeding will fit into their busy lives. Join one of our nurse practitioners/certified lactation consultants to explore options as you prepare for this next phase with your baby!
We will discuss:
- How and when to use your breast pump
- How to store, freeze and defrost expressed breastmilk
- Planning your return to work, whether virtual or away from home
- Scheduling supplemental bottles and meals when needed
- Managing growth spurts and milk supply concerns
- Expected breastfeeding changes as your baby develops
- Resources available to help when you have a question

Infant CPR
Our CPR classes are being held in person at 1360 North Forest Rd, Suite 111, Williamsville, NY 14221. They are small by design in order to provide personal attention as well to adhere to the Covid-19 Guidelines. Masks are required, social distancing and health screening will be in place. Please call with any questions you may have and to reserve you place in this class. 716-725-6370.
UPCOMING CLASS DATES:
$30.00 per adult
During this two hour American Heart Association Friends & Family CPR course for infants and children you will learn:
- Life-threatening emergencies and the chain of survival for all ages.
- Prevention of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, injuries, and choking.
- CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for infant and child victims.
Please note, this class is introductory and does not result in CPR certification.
